Don't Ban the Paint (roll-on paint)

Curriculum areas: visual arts, literacy

Appropriate Ages: 12 months and up

Activity: Roll-on deoderant containers make wonderful paint applicators. To use for paint, do the following.

  1. Make sure you have a deoderant brand with the removable lid and roller. (Ban does; Walmart house brands do not.)
  2. Carefully pry off the lid/roller.
  3. Soak in soapy water and clean thoroughly.
  4. Allow to dry. Once dry poor liquid tempera paint into the roll.
  5. Replace the lid. Make sure it still holds.
  6. Allow children to paint with roller.

Comment: You may want to "label" the outside of the container with contact paper correlating to the inside paint color.
