Ages: late Phase 4 (5-1/2 to 8 months), Phase 5 (8 to 14 months), and 6 (14 to 24 months)

Materials: clothes line or other soft rope, small box (a shoe box is perfect), hole puncher, scissors

How to Make: Place a small hole in one end of the box.  Feed a short piece of rope through the hole and knot so that it will stay. 

Activity: Simple pull toys for mobile infants and young toddlers

Variations: try a variety of box sizes, add small toys to the inside of the box, string multiple boxes or containers train fashion (for example, two plastic frozen food containers, followed by two pot pie tins, and ending with a tofu box.) 

Caution: Ropes and strings must always be supervised.
