The Great Roll & Stomp

Ages:  late Phase 3 (3-1/2 to 5-1/2 months) and Phase 4 (5-1/2 to 8 months) through Phase 6 (14-24 months)

Materials: oatmeal, corn meal, or grits container

How to make: empty an oatmeal, corn meal, or grits cardboard container

Activity: Roll the container with the children.  When they are tired of rolling the container, add a sound maker to the inside (a bell or other item that will make a loud noise), when that is no longer any fun, toddlers will enjoy stomping on it and crushing the container.

Variations: Use wooden spoons to pound on the container.

Thanks to Diane Facteau and the infant/toddlers at Diane's Family Day Care in Watervliet, NY for this idea.
