Roll the Times

Curriculum Areas: Math (geometry), social studies

Appropriate Ages: 4 and up

Activity: Roll three or four sheets of newspaper into cylinders. Roll from the corner, tape in the center. Allow children to create structures with the cylinders and masking tape.. Depending upon the age of the children, they may or may not be able to roll their own cylinders. Adults may also want to be involved as the children first learn to use the materials. Again, this depends upon age and familiarity with open-ended materials.
